- Finn and Zoey have spent hours entertaining themselves playing and singing "Ring Around the Rosie" together. Finn is particularly adorable since it's new for him, he gets excessively excited about the "we all fall DOWN" part and starts giggling uncontrollably.
- I made homemade hummus for the first time. I can't believe I never did it before, it's actually really easy, tastes so much better than store-bought, makes a ton more, and is way cheaper. I made it with roasted garlic this first time, there are so many flavors I want to try now.
- We celebrated Pop Pop's 65th birthday. Zoey and Finn made his cake, which they totally loved. And miraculously nothing got set on fire and no surprise toy cars were found in the batter. Zoey is really getting into helping with baking and cooking.
Short video:
- I found the bottom of Zoey's closet. This may not seem like a big deal, but it was a ridiculous feat and not for the faint of heart. The closet is tiny and stuff just kept piling up. She's currently wearing 4T and there were heaps of clothes she'd outgrown, all the way back to 18 months. So I sorted all of that out, sent a lot to my cousin, donated a lot to Goodwill, sold a few pieces on eBay. I also found camping gear, 4 left shoes (where did all the right ones go?!?), 8 million Ziploc bags, an inflatable swim zebra, and her 1st birthday tutu.
- Finn is doing awesome with his mobility. I haven't updated in awhile, but the EI really is helping him figure out his mobility transitions with gross motor skills. He has no problem now standing up from a laying or seated position and he's finally getting comfortable putting weight on his knees. It's crazy how going straight to walking and never crawling affected him with the things he skipped and missed out on. He still doesn't LIKE to be on his knees, but he'll do it to transition to another position now. His arms have gotten a lot stronger and he uses them more efficiently. I told him he has to pump up his guns if he wants to pick up hot chicks on the playground this summer. Soon we'll work on getting him to crawl up on higher furniture, like the couch.
- In other news with Finn, I'm really noticing that he's SO good at fine motor skill and hand coordination. He has a real affinity for that stuff, he's great with blocks, legos, stacking, nesting toys, puzzles, anything that requires hand/finger dexterity and fine motor problem solving. At 18 months he has also started saying more words. Just a month ago he pretty much only said "Mama" and "Dada", he's the quiet and laid-back type like his dad (plus who can get a word in edgewise with Zoey around?). Now he says "uh-oh", "up", and makes the right animal sound for cow, dog, cat, lion, and horse. He's as easygoing and happy-go-lucky as ever, I love it.
- Marty had his follow-up appointment after having the tip of his right middle finger amputated and he's finally cleared to go back to work. After 3 months off, his first day back is tomorrow. We'll really miss him around the house all day.
