October Was a Good Month

What a great month of fall fun!  I'm so behind in my blog updates that I thought it would be easier to group the past month all together.

With Zoey in school three days a week, Finn and I are home alone pretty often and have been finding ways to entertain ourselves:

On the weekends we took advantage of several fall festivals and activities.  We visited one of our favorite places, Paulus Farm, with Meme & Pop Pop.  It's a great family-owned farm where you can feed/pet the pigs, cows, roosters, ducks, donkey, goats, and sheep.  There is a huge hay play area for the kids as well as swings and a wooden tractor.  There's also a tented area with all kinds of fun stuff inside like the boxes filled with dried corn and soy beans to play with.  You can go on a hay ride and tour their crop fields.  And don't forget to go inside the general store to buy fruits and vegetables picked fresh, baked goods that just came out of the oven, or homemade soups and jams.

Not as amused by the mini-carousel horse.  However, Daddy was more relaxed about this one.

We went to the zoo with Granny & Pap Pap for the after-dark event.  It was really fun, we took flash lights and the kids walked all around the zoo in the dark, looking in on the animals at night.  Some of the animals were asleep but others were up and more active, like the wolves.  We also got to go in a room where the kids touched a snake, lizard, and baby alligator.  I couldn't take many pictures since it got dark not long after we arrived, but here's Finn & Pap Pap walking down the stairs to get in and Zoey touching an alligator.

And of course the biggest October event was Halloween.  Zoey dressed up as Spider Girl.  Finn, well he had a variety of outfits.   Here's a trip to the store where the kids wanted to wear their costumes.  This time Finn was a monkey:

Trick-or-Treat Night (because you know in Central PA they don't do trick or treating actually on Halloween, don't get me started), Granny stayed at our house to hand out candy while Pap Pap and Pop Pop accompanied us and the kids on a trick or treating adventure.  This time Finn dressed as Super Man... and also chose to wear Zoey's Minnie Mouse hat with his ensemble.  It was adorable.

It was  a really fun month.  Now the weather is getting much cooler and I'm looking forward to curling up in front of the fire place with cocoa and cookies.
