The Lau Family: Christmas Cabin

One of our favorite places, Paulus Farm, has re-opened their outdoor and tented areas with a Christmas motif. We love this place and go every week from September - November when it's called "Fun Fort" and decorated for the fall season. We had never gone before during the month of December when it's called "Christmas Cabin" but we had such a blast that I'm sure we'll be back.

We started outside by visiting the roosters, goats, and baby cows. Then we bought a huge bag of apples in the store to feed the pigs, that was by far Zoey & Finn's favorite part. There's a chute that you can put an apple in and it pops out in their pen, Zoey thought it was hilarious to watch the pigs run after the apples as they flew off the end of the chute. I on the other hand started getting mad that the big fat pigs were getting all the apples and started pitching them directly to the wee little pigs.

Inside the tent there was also a pen with a mommy sheep and two baby sheep (as Zoey would say). The kids baa'd back and forth with the sheep for awhile, then played in the hay bales and corn boxes, went down the slide, colored at the activity table, played with random toys, and walked through the mini hay maze. Last year Zoey absolutely refused to go through the hay maze, but she was all about it this time. And it was so cute, she took Finn's hand and led him through it. After that he followed her every time she went in. This was one of those times that it became clear to me how great they play together and how much they really like each other. It makes up for the fact that last week they were pulling each other's hair and causing me concern that we were going to be instating Thunderdome rules in the house. Anyway, on the way out I let Zoey pick out a treat from the baked good table, she picked chocolate-mint cookies with peppermint Hershey's kisses in the middle. She ate all the kisses and Finn ate all the cookies. Then we all had hot chocolate and headed home, where BOTH kids actually took a nap. Perfection!
