PT and Progress

Today was Finn's first official PT session.  Let me tell you, I am NOT a fan of his physical therapist.  I really wish we could have his evaluator as his therapist, but apparently they're not allowed to do that.  Whoever initially evaluates the child can't be the one who does their ongoing therapy.  So instead we're stuck with this ninny.  I don't think our personalities could conflict more.  She talks to children (and everyone really) in this loud screechy completely over-the-top excessively forced-cheerful singsong voice.  It's like talking to Barney on crack.  I had to sit on my hands to prevent myself from throwing Legos at her.  She's not a good teacher.  She thinks she knows everything.  And she's ANNOYING.

That being said, she's at least average with getting Finn to do things.  By the end of the session she made a little progress with him.  So I will concede that she's not completely useless.  And honestly I don't think we're really going to need PT very long at all anyway.  Ever since the initial evaluator (who was AWESOME) showed us all these tricks to get Finn to use and strengthen his arms, he's been improving every day by leaps and bounds.  He's using his arms more, getting into kneeling positions, easier to coax from sitting/laying into standing, AND.... today he crawled up stairs for the very first time!!!  You may not think that's a big deal since most toddlers have done that ages ago, but it's a huge milestone for him.  He was using his arms in a way he never has and demonstrated how much he's strengthening them.

Going up the stairs:

And here he is all excited at the top of the stairs and then going down the slide:

So yeah, I don't think we'll really need Barney on Crack much longer anyway, since Finn is improving and working things out on his own.  Woohoo!
