4-year Check-Ups

Zoey had her 4-year checkup with the pediatrician this week.

Everything went well, the doctor was pleased with Zoey's development.  It was a longer appointment than she's had in the past, in addition to the physical assessment the doctor also had Zoey write her name, draw shapes, identify colors, and count.  She is right on target with all of that.

Physically Zoey is fine as well.  She's big for her age, 41.7" inches tall (87th percentile) and 41 pounds (86th percentile).  She passed her hearing screen and received two vaccinations:  MMR and Tdap with polio.  She did really well with the "pinches", only cried for a very brief moment but was ok shortly afterwards.

Last week was her first official vision check-up.  I actually had no idea they started sending kids to the eye doctor so early, but apparently they start to get them in at age 4.   I thought it would be just a quick appointment to look in her eyes and maybe have her identify some letters, wrong.   They did the cover/uncover test, several different eye charts, color blindness testing, AND dilated her eyes for the exam.  We were there for over 2 hours.  Surprisingly the kids didn't go insane cooped up in the office for that long, hooray.

Rocking the plastic shades after her eyes were dilated:
