Zoey's Mid-year Evaluation

We got Zoey's written preschool mid-year evaluations back, it's always fun to read how she's been doing.  This is Miss Holly's feedback to each category:

Patient and determined:  Zoey's patience has developed, especially in interactions with peers.  It has become much easier to share a friend's attention.  She is determined!  Zoey is a strong capable child who knows her own mind!

Works independently:  She revels in her independence.  Zoey enjoys helping friends too.  She is independent but socially interactive with most time spent doing things together with favorite friends or adults.

Remembers and uses previous learning:  Bright, curious, inquisitive, and observant.  She has a quick mind.  Learning comes easily and she can adapt and apply knowledge in new ways.

Imaginative:  Enjoys "dramatic play" with friends.  She is an imaginative, creative, and entertaining character!  She is an enthusiastic musician, singer, dancer, artist, and actress.. always dramatic!

Finds new ways of doing things:  She is always thinking up innovative ideas to share.  She enjoys taking a leadership role as well as demonstrating maturing cooperative skills (she's working hard on this).

Responsible:  She understands expected parameters and boundaries of space and behavior.  She enjoys simple classroom errands and jobs.  She still needs cues to stay on track, still some distractibility and "selective hearing".

Strives to improve:  She is self-motivated and confident.  Most endeavors come easily to Zoey.

Willing to try new things:  Eager and enthusiastic and likes to be first.

Uses tools properly:  Careful and organized with guidance.  She has well-developed fine and gross motor skills.  Sometimes needs cues to slow down.

Exerts effort:  Very much so!  When she is self-motivated she'll do it!

Participates well in discussion and activities:  An active participant and fine contributor with good listening skills developing.  She is articulate and a fine conversationalist when engaged.

Reacts well to discipline:  Mostly maintains an easy-going disposition with some temper flare-ups with peers on occasion.

Respects the rights and work of others:  She does like to be the boss.  She is sensitive and fair with peers most times.  She is still developing this sensitivity, her sense of fairness has developed with maturity.

Defends her own rights:  Very much so.  Verbally she can initiate conflict resolution with peers and follow through with guidance.

Displays confidence:  Zoey is a happy, secure, confident child.

Likes to share:  Zoey is generous, warm-hearted, and giving with friends most times.

A kind and caring child:  She is a loving, loyal, warm-hearted affectionate child in her quirky Zoey way.

Enjoys people:  She is sociable, outgoing, well-liked by peers.  Most of her time is spent sociably interactive with peers and teachers.

Likes to express herself:  Very capable when engaged and warmed up.

Communicates well with others:  She is articulate with excellent conversational skills.  She is a fine contributor as well as listener most times.  She is working on focusing and attentiveness at times.

Comments:  She has the enthusiasm, bravado, and confidence of a 4-year old!  She is bright, energetic, and fun-loving.  She is a wonderful friend, well-liked by all peers.  She is an active learner soaking up knowledge, sharing ideas and conclusions.  Cognitively she is intelligent and observant, she is like a little sponge.  She demonstrates a fine established foundation of pre-K skills.  Verbally she is quite a conversationalist, very articulate!  Socially Zoey is a people-person who enjoys active play with friends.  Physically she has confident fine and gross motor skills.  I am very proud of Zoey and enjoy hearing her in class.  She and her classmates are having a terrific year!
